Using a Hands-On Lab

Access labs in your AppSecEngineer course, review objectives and instructions, start and complete tasks in a preconfigured environment, track time, and save your progress for applied security learning

Follow these steps to effectively use a hands-on lab:
  1. Log in to the User Portal:

    • Access the learning platform and sign in with your credentials.
  2. Navigate to the Course:

    • Open the course that includes the lab you want to use.
    • Labs are typically located after specific video lessons in the course content.
  3. Access the Lab Section:

    • Find the lab in the course module.
    • Click on the lab to view its details.
  4. Review the Lab Overview and Rules:

    • Read the Overview to understand the objectives of the lab.
    • Go through the Instructions carefully to familiarize yourself with the tasks.
    • Note the Prohibited Activities to ensure compliance with platform guidelines.
  5. Start the Lab:

    • Click the Start Lab button to initiate the lab environment.
    • A timer will start, indicating the duration available for the lab.
  6. Access the Lab Environment:

    • Click the Access Lab button to enter the interactive lab environment.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to begin the tasks.
  7. Work Through the Lab Tasks:

    • Complete the tasks as per the instructions provided.
    • Use the pre-configured tools, environments, and resources in the lab.
  8. Monitor Your Time:

    • Keep an eye on the timer to ensure you complete the lab within the allocated time.
  9. End the Lab:

    • Once you finish, click the End Lab button to exit.
    • Ensure all progress is saved, if applicable.
